This bar is 100% cacao, nothing added but cocoa butter, from a single farm, Demetrio Huaccre's in Villa Virgen, Cusco, in the Peruvian Andes. The beans come from one cacao tree that is more than a hundred years old and still gives around 250 kg of fruit a year.

No sugar means nothing hides the cacao. Expect lily, plum and grapefruit, a bright acidity and a long finish. Let a small piece melt slowly on your tongue rather than biting it. It won Bronze at the International Chocolate Awards World Final 2024 in the high-percentage dark chocolate category.

Cacao: 100%, single farm, Villa Virgen, Cusco, Peru

Farmer: Demetrio Huaccre

Tasting notes: Lily, plum, grapefruit

Ingredients: Organic cocoa beans, organic cocoa butter

Allergens: May contain traces of milk and nuts.

Net weight: 50g (1.76 oz)

Award: International Chocolate Awards, World Final 2024, Bronze

For the serious dark chocolate lover, and lovely broken into shards on a cheese board.

The Story Behind Qantu

Qantu began with a chance meeting in Cusco, Peru, where travelers Elfi Maldonado and Maxime Simard fell for each other, and soon after for cacao. A 2014 visit to a cacao farm in northern Peru, and the pride of the farmers they met there, changed the course of their lives. In 2016 they began making chocolate in Montréal, working directly with Peruvian growers to turn rare native cacao into small-batch, bean-to-bar chocolate. Their very first bars won gold at London's Academy of Chocolate Awards. The name Qantu (say "KAN-too") comes from the Quechua word for the national flower of Peru and Bolivia, a symbol of unity and hospitality.
