About Poterie Renault For five generations, the Renault family crafted culinary stoneware in one of the oldest working potteries in France, founded in 1847. This was never decorative ware — it was the working stock of French kitchens and bistros. Every piece is thrown from regional stoneware clay and fired past 1200°C, making it oven-safe, non-porous, and genuinely built for daily use. The finish comes from salt thrown into the kiln's fireboxes at peak temperature, creating a faintly pitted, orange-peel glaze you can feel under your thumb. The factory closed in 2016, making these authentic vintage-new pieces limited in quantity. Expect subtle shifts in the earthy glaze and small kiln marks — they are the mark of authentic craftsmanship, not a fault. No two are identical, and when these are gone, there will be no more.
