"Low Tide" by Ib Tollberg

Low Tide
by Ib Tollberg

Bring the hush of an empty shoreline into your home with this mid-century Scandinavian seascape by Ib Tollberg. The tide has pulled back, leaving bands of wet sand, dark seaweed and mossy green tufts stretched across the foreground. Far out on the calm, sea-glass water, a line of fishing-net poles and a small boat sit right on the horizon beneath a soft mint-green sky.

Tollberg builds the scene from broad, confident strokes and layered bands of color: celadon, sand, umber, plum and moss. The result is almost abstract up close and wonderfully atmospheric from across the room. It's a calm, restful piece for a bedroom, reading corner or anywhere that could use a deep breath of sea air. Presented in a vintage walnut-toned wood frame with a fine copper-gold inner edge and cream linen liner.
