Before modern buoys and beacons, lightships guarded Sweden's coastlines: floating lighthouses anchored where no tower could stand, their bright red hulls a welcome sight to sailors coming home. This painting catches one at rest, tied up at the quay, its lantern tower and day-mark mast standing tall against a pale, luminous sky.

Behind it, a harbor town rises in warm terracotta roofs and pale stone, framed by tall dark poplars and a slender domed tower. The water below is painted in broken strokes of blue, green and lilac, so the whole scene seems to shimmer. It's a piece of Swedish maritime history with real presence, perfect for a study, a coastal-style living room or anyone who loves the sea. Presented in its Swedish-made wood frame with a gold inner edge and linen liner.
