This expressive still life features a dark jug, a green vessel, and rich crimson fruit rendered in Zelig's signature heavily textured impasto technique. Sculpted with dramatic knife and brush strokes, the composition beautifully balances soft, muted grey-blue background tones against deep, earthy reds, teals, and dark charcoals.

Zelig, a Holocaust survivor who studied at the prestigious Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest before emigrating to Sweden in 1945, was renowned for his tactile surfaces and modern Hungarian-Scandinavian expressionist style.
