Brass or copper, nine inches, handmade in northern Greece by a family firm. The design comes from a coffee mill the Greek army carried in the early 1900s: an all-metal body, a flanged base so it does not walk across the counter, and a handle you turn rather than a top you twist.

The salt mill's grinding mechanism is plastic where the pepper mill's is steel — salt corrodes steel, and they built it knowing that. Sold singly; the pepper mill is its pair.

Assembly

The handle ships inside the mill body. Unscrew the nut at the top to remove the lid, take out the handle, replace the lid, set the handle on top, and screw the nut down tight.
